Ajla Aksamija presented an invited presentation, “Decarbonizing the Built Environment for Sustainable Future,” at the Sustainable Urban Development: Designing Smart, Inclusive and Resilient Cities symposium in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina from June 23-26, 2022. This presentation discussed her research on design methods for decarbonizing the built environment, specifically focusing on energy-efficient retrofits of existing buildings and methods to achieve net-zero energy design. The symposium was part of the 13th Days of BHAAAS (Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences).

Suncica Milosevic presented the co-authored paper with Prof. Aksamija, titled “Sustainable Retrofit Strategies for an Existing and Historically Significant Residential Complex: Environmental Response and Facade Performance Analysis”.
